This cup's striking color is due to a layering of two glazes. The bottom glaze is a carbon-trapping shino which reacts to the atmosphere of the kiln and the top layer of glaze to create a dynamic surface of turquoise-colored crystals.
The ledge on the side provides a comfortable place to rest on the hand. There are two of these cups, the one you receive may vary only slightly.
